Terms of Service
Effective May 18, 2026 — The rules and conditions governing use of Ballistic Science Lab.
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using BallisticScienceLab.com (the "Service") operated by Ballistic Science Lab ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Ballistic Science Lab provides online ballistic calculation tools, informational content, and related resources for hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. The Service includes a ballistic trajectory calculator, supporting tools, blog articles, and optional user account features for saving calculations and custom cartridge data.
2. Use of the Service
You may use the Service for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years of age, or are accessing the Service under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
- Your use of the Service complies with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.
- You will not use the Service to plan, facilitate, or carry out any illegal activity.
- Your use of the Service is also subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
3. Ballistic Calculations — No Safety Reliance
The ballistic calculator and all tools provided on this site are for informational and educational purposes only. Outputs are estimates based on mathematical models and the data you provide. They do not account for all real-world variables including but not limited to: wind conditions, barrel quality, ammunition lot-to-lot variation, firearm condition, shooter technique, altitude, humidity, and temperature.
You must not rely solely on this tool for safe shot placement. Always verify calculations with real-world testing at a safe shooting range. Misuse of firearms can result in serious injury or death. You assume full and sole responsibility for any decisions made based on outputs from this Service.
4. User Accounts
You may register for an account to save calculations and custom cartridge loads. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful purposes.
5. User-Submitted Content
If you submit cartridge data, comments, or other content to the Service ("User Content"), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, display, and use that content in connection with operating the Service.
You represent that your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights and is accurate to the best of your knowledge. We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful, misleading, or inappropriate.
Ballistic coefficient (BC) and muzzle velocity data published by ammunition manufacturers are factual, non-copyrightable specifications. Submitting manufacturer-published performance data is permitted and encouraged.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, calculator logic, user interface design, and the Ballistic Science Lab name and logo — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites (including affiliate partner sites such as MidwayUSA, Brownells, and OpticsPlanet) and may display third-party advertisements. These third parties have their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site.
8. Advertising
The Service displays advertising provided by third-party networks including Google AdSense. We do not control the content of advertisements. Clicking on an advertisement may result in a third party setting cookies on your device in accordance with their own privacy policy.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy or completeness of ballistic calculations or cartridge data.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ballistic Science Lab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed $100 USD.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ballistic Science Lab, its operators, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) any User Content you submit; or (d) your violation of any law or third-party rights.
12. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Ohio.
